Jewellery Appraisals

Jewellery Appraisals can be prepared in three different methods. In-Lab service, Mobile service & through Retail outlet. An HKD Jewellery appraisal can have a wide range of functions. The primary funtion is to provide a means for insurance coverage through your home or property insurance provider. Second, a jewellery appraisal serves as a means for identification in the case of loss, theft or dispute. Lastly, a jewellery appraisal can provide documentation of the gemstone and diamond qualities for the purpose of selling. HKD Diamond Laboratories have been providing appraisal services for the consumer and jewellery industry or the last 15 years. All appraisal are conducted by GIA Graduate Gemologists with a minimum of 12 years experience in the field of Gemology and jewellery appraisals. Our gemologist are associated with many gemological and jewellery associations, such as the GIA Alumni Association, The Canadian Jewellers Association Accredited Apprasiers Program, Thai Gems and Jewellers Association and the GIA Alumni Association. Depending on the insurance company, an appraisal is only valid for a period of 3 to 5 years. An updated appraisal is required after this time or if the item has undergone any work that alters the value or visual identification. HKD provides a wide array of appraisal services such as Retail Replacement, Wholesale Value, Fair Market Value, and Probate (estate) Value.

In-Lab "While you wait" service:

One of our most popular serivce is the In-Lab "While you wait" service. This service allows you book an appointment with our gemologist/appraiser to have your jewllery, loose diamond or loose gemstone examined and appraised while you wait. Our laboratory has an open concept which allows you to watch your item througout examination process from the comfort of our waiting room. Each item submitted for appraisal will go through a rigourous set of testings and examinations for gemstone and diamond treatments and synthetics and graded occuring to the standards set forth by the GIA, Canadian Jewellers Institute and Jewellers Vigilance. The examination process takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes per item. Once completed you are able to walk away with your items and the associated HKD Jewellery Appraisal document. Mobile Service:

This service allows us to take our Gemological equipment mobile and provide our appraisal services through a retail outlet or directly at the clients place of residence, work or banking institution. With a moblie laboratory we can conduct a thorough examination of your item while your item is within your sight. Retail Outlet:

If you would HKD Diamond Laboratories Canada to provide you with an appraisal but are unable to reach us through our In-Lab or Mobile service, just visit your local jeweller. Ask them that you would like your jewellery appraised by HKD Diamond Laboratories Canada and we can do the rest.
